Kindergarten at Burr Fall 2012-2013
Jonathan Burr Elementary School congratulates the new students who have been accepted for the fall 2012-13 school year. We hope to welcome you to the Burr family! Parents, we are excited that your family will be part of the journey to prepare your child(ren) to be global students that are High School Ready, and College Bound! In preparation for the coming school year there is some pertinent information you should know about Kindergarten at Burr. Due in part to income shortages, Burr school lost funding for full-day Kindergarten in the 2011-12 year. Like many of the top Chicago neighborhood/magnet schools Burr’s parents/guardians voluntarily subsidized the cost of the second half of the day for kindergarten in 2010/2011.
WHAT TO EXPECT
If the parents of the 2012-13 kindergarten class are interested in continuing the tradition of a full-day kindergarten program at Burr, we will be coordinating a fundraising campaign. The campaign will start off with a meeting that will take place in April of 2012. Check back to the Burr website calendar for meeting date. Without the voluntary contribution from the kindergarten parents and/or sufficient fundraising proceeds, kindergarten at Burr will revert to half-days only. Burr is a family oriented and academically rigorous school with excellent teachers and a solid school community who strive to make it a place where ALL children thrive. We hope you and your child(ren) enjoy it as much as we do.
